Project Brief

This app is tailored to revolutionize your skincare purchases by leveraging advanced AI technology. Designed for iOS users, it offers a suite of features enabling personalized skincare expert advice and product suggestions at your fingertips, all through our user-friendly iOS app.

Problem

One big challenge we've noticed in the skincare market is that even though there's a huge variety of products, there's no good system for keeping track of what works and what doesn’t for each person's unique skin.

Solution

The goal of the ZUVA app is to develop an AI-powered skincare app that offers personalized skincare recommendation based on a user’s individual skin type and specific skin concerns. The app will analyse various data points, including but not limited to AI scan, Surveys, and Dermatologist consultation to provide tailored product recommendations and skincare routines

Research

UX research for the AI skincare app revealed three key insights: users feel overwhelmed by too many product choices and crave clear, personalized guidance; trust grows when recommendations are transparent and explain the “why” behind them; and engagement is highest when users can track progress and adjust preferences. These findings shaped the app to feel less like a faceless algorithm and more like a supportive, knowledgeable guide.

Design

I focused the UI on being clean, approachable, and reassuring. The home screen gives a quick snapshot of skin progress and daily tasks, while recommendations are shown with simple explanations of why they matter. I used minimal colors and soft visuals to avoid a “clinical” feel, added progress trackers for motivation, and designed ingredient cards that are easy to scan without overwhelming detail. The goal was to make the app feel like a friendly guide, not a complicated tool.

Results

The final design led to stronger user trust and higher engagement. In testing, users reported feeling more confident about skincare choices, spent more time exploring ingredient insights, and returned more consistently thanks to progress tracking features. Overall, the app shifted from being “just another AI tool” to a supportive guide that users wanted to keep in their daily routine.
